To what extent do rescuers need training? And why is special equipment often required? IMMOOS provides SI Urban with insights into an urban cable car rescue concept. The company exports safety concepts, rescue systems and personal protective equipment for cable cars to more than 30 countries.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"teaser text full\">\n<p>Emergency drives, remote maintenance and automatic rescue operations \u2013 urban cable cars are considered to be a very safe mode of transport. A passenger evacuation by abseiling is therefore very rare \u2013 but not implausible.<\/p>\n<p>It is therefore necessary to be prepared for an precisely this situation and has developed rescue concepts, supplied materials and conducted training for 30 urban systems \u2013 including in Algeria, South Korea, Turkey, Vietnam, Colombia and Myanmar. \u201cEven the cable car on Sugarloaf Mountain in Rio de Janeiro uses our know-how.<\/p>\n<p>We are therefore happy to pass on our many years of experience to SI Urban readers,\u201d says Managing Director Florian Immoos. Basically, if possible, passengers are abseiled off by standard methods, i.e. vertically. \u201cHowever, in the city, this type of rescue is generally impeded by roads, buildings or power lines.<\/p>\n<p>We therefore often have to move passengers along the cable and can abseil them off only at the supports or over open land,\u201d Immoos reports. In the city, rescuers are helped neither by gravity \u2013 as in the mountains \u2013 nor by the distance between the support and the gondola.<\/p>\n<p>To get to the gondola quickly, rescue squads here must move themselves along by winch or cable rescue carriage. \u201cOur SS1 self-driven cable rescue carriage is particularly suited to this case. With the motorised equipment, the rescuer can get to the gondola independently and without assistance from a second rescuer,\u201d the rescue expert reports.<\/p>\n<p>Even gradients up to 20\u00b0 or 36%, such as often occur on urban cable cars, are no problem. Here, we comply with the European standards, which are recognised worldwide,\u201d the Managing Director says.<\/p>\n<p>According to these, the evacuation of a cable car must take a maximum of only 210 minutes \u2013 less 30 minutes\u2019 response time. The type and number of rescuers and the equipment are then determined on the basis of the time calculation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe assemble an individual equipment bag for each rescue sector here, which contains not only equipment and gear but also detailed instructions,\u201d Immoos says.<\/p>\n<\/div><style type=\"text\/css\">.fusion-builder-row .fusion-layout-column.gradient-column-10 .fusion-column-wrapper:before {content: \"\";
