Pipelane – New paths for urban mobility

Uncategorized|

More and more experts are relying on the bicycle as the most suitable form of mobility for individual transport in the city. To take bicycle traffic to a new level, both figuratively and literally, visionary Bernhard Dufter has devised a new pipelane. Conveyor belts from the company SUNKID – which is successful in Alpine tourism with its Magic Carpet – form a key part of this.

Changing behavior – How can we persuade people to switch to public transport?

The most beautiful cable car, the best bus and the greatest tram can only ever be useful if they are also accepted by the people. But how can politics and transport experts persuade the general public to switch from the car to public transport? From the Salzburger Verkehrstage conference, here are a few ideas from the perspective of science, transport operators and ticket providers.

Mobility pricing – Modern financing for transport

Whether cable car, city bus or road: public transport and infrastructure have to be financed. Rather than stiff taxes, fees and ticketing models, mobility pricing can be a solution that is fit for the future, improving more than merely the financial position of the operators.

Gent – The car-free city

Future mobility becomes a reality not only through modern systems such as urban cable cars; a range of traffic-calming measures is needed. The best example: the Belgian city of Ghent, where the city centre has been almost car-free since 2017.

Cable oiler – Automatic lubrication for cable car cables

What is true for bicycle chains and roller bearings also applies to the heavily strained cables of urban and Alpine cable cars. Effective preservation protects the wire cable from corrosion, reduces internal friction and thus makes it more durable. With the automated cable oiler and the right oil, NK-A from ELASKON, this is possible even in ongoing operation. This is proven in the example of the “PisaMover” MiniMetro from LEITNER in Pisa.
